Basilica del Pilar beside the Ebro in Zaragoza

Zaragoza is the easiest introduction to Aragón. The Basilica del Pilar, La Seo and the Aljafería give the city enough depth for more than a rail stop between Madrid and Barcelona.

Plan the region

Stay one or two nights in Zaragoza. Mountain travel belongs in a separate regional plan because distances and seasonal access differ sharply from the capital.

Destinations in Aragón

  • Zaragoza: Zaragoza is more than a rail stop, with two major cathedrals, an Islamic palace, Roman remains and broad Ebro views in a manageable city centre.

Use the route planner to keep stops in a sensible travel corridor.
