Pompeii needs a full day from Naples when the archaeological park is the sole major destination. The train stop, entrance and current list of open buildings should be checked together before the route is fixed.
Give the archaeological park most of the day
Pompeii is not a quick collection of famous houses. Its streets, forum, public buildings and residential areas cover a large site, and the buildings open to visitors can change.
Choose a selective circuit from the official map. The Forum, a small group of open houses and one farther point make a stronger visit than trying to walk every excavated street.

Match the train to the correct entrance
The Circumvesuviana route from Napoli Piazza Garibaldi serves Pompei Scavi Villa dei Misteri for Porta Marina and Piazza Esedra. Other rail services reach different parts of modern Pompeii.
Check the dated EAV information and the entrance shown by the official park before travel. Station names that look similar can leave visitors on the wrong side of the site.

Use the official ticket and current map
Buy through the channel linked by the archaeological park and carry the identification required by the current ticket rules. Confirm the entrance, time slot and any building closures on the day.
Start with the closest priority area rather than crossing the site for a single house that may not be open. Staff notices and conservation work should overrule an older saved itinerary.
Prepare for difficult ancient surfaces
High kerbs, irregular stone streets, exposed ground and limited shade make Pompeii tiring. Water, supportive footwear and a route with real rest points matter in every season.
The Pompeii for All route starts from Piazza Anfiteatro and improves access to significant areas, but the park warns that uneven sections and gradients remain. Check the latest access information before selecting the entrance.
Return to Naples without adding Vesuvius
Leave enough time for the walk to the station and possible gaps in the regional service. Keep the evening in Naples light after a full day on exposed archaeological ground.
Vesuvius has its own transport, timed access and weather limits. Remove it from this day and stay locally when a second archaeological site or a slower Pompeii visit is important.
