Cavtat is a quieter coastal day south of Dubrovnik, built around its harbour and one peninsula walk. The public bus is the dependable connection, while seasonal boats should be treated as a weather-dependent option.
A relaxed Cavtat circuit
Walk from the bus station to the harbour, then follow one peninsula path before returning to the waterfront. Add the Račić Mausoleum or Bukovac House only after checking its opening hours.
One peninsula, lunch and the harbour make a complete half day. A second loop or swimming stop turns it into a slower full day without improving a hurried visit.

Bus or boat from Dubrovnik
Libertas buses provide the more dependable connection between Dubrovnik and Cavtat. Check the suburban east timetable and the exact stop used by the current service.
Licensed passenger boats can offer a scenic alternative in the main season, but wind and rough water may interrupt them. Keep the bus as the return plan when the evening in Dubrovnik matters.

Museums, paths and swimming
The harbour and waterfront need no fixed sequence. Choose one cultural interior, then use the shaded peninsula path or a designated swimming place according to weather.
Strong heat makes exposed sections tiring, while rain can make stone and wooded paths slippery. Fire restrictions may also affect coastal woodland in dry periods.
Access and the Dubrovnik return
The harbour area is relatively manageable, but the cemetery approach, peninsula paths and older buildings include slopes, steps and uneven ground.
Use an earlier bus when a Dubrovnik dinner, ferry or airport transfer is fixed. Stay overnight for an early flight or quieter evening, not because the harbour circuit requires two days.
