What fits into one day
Melk Abbey is the main visit. A second Wachau stop is possible only when current rail, bus or boat times leave a reliable return route.
Getting there
Check the rail journey from Vienna and the abbey’s current opening and tour information. Seasonal river services need a separate timetable check.
Plan the day
Give the abbey and its grounds enough time before adding another town. A simple return by rail is the least complicated version.
