Gozo can be visited for a day, but the ferry and connecting buses use much of the available time. Make Victoria and its Citadel the anchor, then add only one coast or village if the return remains comfortable.
Choose the ferry route by starting point
Check the current sea service, departure harbour and connection from the accommodation. The Cirkewwa to Mġarr route requires a journey across Malta Island before boarding.
Use Victoria as the Gozo transport hub
Take the current bus from Mġarr Harbour and begin with the Citadel and town. Most island bus choices become clearer from Victoria.
Add only one Gozo coast
Choose Xlendi, Dwejra, Marsalforn or another single area after checking its bus. Trying to circle the island produces more waiting than useful time.
Allow for ferry and weather changes
Wind and operational notices can alter the crossing. Keep live information available and avoid a plan that relies on the final possible connection.
Stay at least two nights for a fuller visit
A day trip provides an introduction, not broad Gozo coverage. An overnight route is better for separate west and north coast days.
