Kurzeme is better understood as a sequence of small towns and contrasting coastlines than as a single beach destination. Eight days gives Kuldīga, Liepāja and Ventspils proper overnight stays without forcing remote Cape Kolka into an already long transfer.

Start inland at Kuldīga

Kuldīga provides a gentle opening with its historic streets and the broad Venta waterfall. Two nights allow an evening and a full day without turning the town into a lunch stop between Riga and the coast.

Treat the two port cities separately

Liepāja has the stronger urban programme, with music, architecture, beach and the Karosta district. Ventspils is smaller and works well for a waterfront day and access to the northern coast. Their different scale is part of the route, not a reason to choose only one.

Buses connect the main towns, but a car makes smaller beaches, lighthouses and nature stops far easier. Do not build a public-transport itinerary around several rural detours on the same day.

Add Cape Kolka only with time

Cape Kolka and Slītere National Park deserve a separate northern-coast day or an extra night. Road distances are manageable, yet services become sparse and weather changes the value of exposed coastal stops. Keep this extension optional until accommodation and return travel are confirmed.
