Day trip

Brașov from Bucharest

Central Brașov is possible as a long rail day from Bucharest, but Bran and mountain attractions need separate time.

Central Brașov is possible as a long rail day from Bucharest, but Bran and mountain attractions need separate time. A long day is enough for central Brașov. It is not enough for Brașov, Bran and a mountain attraction together.

A day visit or overnight stay in Brașov

Set aside one full day. Two or three nights make Bran, Sinaia or a weather-dependent mountain day practical.

Getting to Brașov from Bucharest

Travel from București Nord to Brașov station, followed by a city bus to the historic centre by train and bus.

Allow 140 to 180 minutes each way. Use CFR Călători for this journey. Reserve both intercity legs, especially for weekends. Book any Black Church or guided visit separately if required.

View of Bucharest

Brașov in one day

Take a city bus to Council Square.

Continue through Șchei and the walls.

Return without adding Bran or a mountain lift.

Conditions on the Brașov route

Weekend rail and lodging pressure can be high. Tâmpa access and mountain plans depend on weather and operating status.

Access around Brașov

The old town has cobbles, and Tâmpa is steep. Use city buses and a central, lower-gradient route for limited mobility.

Returning to Bucharest from Brașov

Leave the centre with time for traffic between Livada Poștei and the station, and keep the reserved return train details offline. If trains are disrupted, use a later reserved service and shorten the centre walk rather than adding a road excursion.
