Ways to adjust the route
- Remain in Omodos and use a lower-elevation village day if mountain roads are unsuitable.
- 1
- Stay in Platres and postpone the north-mountain leg if fog, snow, fire or road notices intervene.
This route crosses the Troodos Mountains from Omodos through Platres to Kakopetria. Public buses serve some villages, but they do not form a dependable through itinerary, so the six days assume a suitable car or a separately arranged licensed driver.
Start with two nights in Omodos
The first stay covers the village centre, monastery area and one verified local producer without turning the day into a broad wine-village circuit. Park outside the narrow historic lanes.

Use Platres for one forest section
One night is enough for a short official path when conditions allow. It is not enough for several waterfalls, mountain villages and a long church circuit.

Finish with two nights in Kakopetria
Kakopetria provides a stronger northern base for the old quarter and one or two painted churches. Confirm individual church access instead of assuming every interior will be open.

Six-day Troodos sequence
Days 1 and 2 stay in Omodos, day 3 moves to Platres, day 4 crosses to Kakopetria, day 5 uses one compact church or village circuit, and day 6 descends towards Nicosia.
Let mountain conditions shorten the route
Fog, snow, wildfire restrictions and road work can affect high ground. Check official forecasts and notices, then remove the optional trail or church before compressing the drive.
