- Take Elron from Tartu to Tallinn, then a confirmed coach from Tallinn Bus Station to Pärnu; allow 300 to 390 minutes.
This route gives each of Estonia’s three main city experiences enough room to feel different. Tallinn carries the busiest sightseeing load, Tartu adds museums and university life, and Pärnu provides a slower final stop by the coast.
Why the order works
Starting in Tallinn makes good use of the country’s main international gateway. The train to Tartu is the simplest long transfer, while the onward coach to Pärnu avoids returning to Tallinn and keeps the journey moving west.
Two nights in each city is a practical minimum. It leaves one full day in Tartu and Pärnu after arrival, without turning the week into a chain of day trips from the capital.
Book the awkward connection first
Check the Tartu to Pärnu coach before fixing accommodation because this is the least flexible leg. If the through service does not suit the date, travelling via Tallinn is possible but consumes much more of the day. Leave the wetland trips around Pärnu for a longer version of the route.
How to change the pace
With five days, choose Tallinn and Tartu for an all-season city trip or Tallinn and Pärnu in warm weather. With nine days, add one night to Tallinn and one to Pärnu, then use the extra time for Lahemaa or Soomaa only after confirming transport.
