Cave guide

Moravian Karst with a booked cave route

The Moravian Karst is a protected limestone area north of Brno, known for show caves, the Macocha gorge and wooded walking routes.

Start planning
Limestone outcrop and forest in the Moravian Karst

Build the visit around one confirmed cave tour and one nearby surface route, since cave capacities and local transfers control the day.

Reserve the cave that matters

Punkva and the other show caves have individual routes, seasons and capacities. Book through the official cave administration and verify the entrance and meeting point.

A sold-out cave cannot be replaced by arriving early at an unrelated entrance. Keep another official cave or a surface walk as the alternative.

Allow for cool, stepped interiors

Caves remain cool and damp even in summer, with stairs and uneven surfaces on some tours. Carry a layer and read the access information for the exact route.

Macocha viewpoints and the surrounding forest are separate from the underground tour. Combine only nearby features and leave enough time for the return transport.

Travel through Blansko carefully

Trains connect Brno and Blansko, with regional transport onward toward Skalní mlýn and cave areas. Seasonal services and final departures need checking.

Driving offers flexibility but parking does not guarantee cave admission. The reservation remains the anchor for any transport choice.

Questions about Moravian Karst

Can I visit from Brno in one day?

Yes. Confirm one cave tour first, then fit the rail and regional connection around it.

Are cave tickets available on arrival?

They may sell out. Advance booking is the safer choice for a specific cave and time.

What should I wear?

Bring a warm layer and suitable shoes because cave interiors are cool, damp and sometimes stepped.
